CFO: Chief Financial Officer

Lead financial strategy, capital planning, controls and performance management for long-horizon infrastructure and technology programs.

Role mandate

Build the capability for the era ahead.

This team member will combine subject-matter depth, sound judgment and disciplined execution to move the mission from architecture to measurable results.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Finance workstream for Chief Financial Officer and deliver measurable technical or operating outcomes.
  • Set the strategy, operating priorities and measurable outcomes for the function.
  • Recruit, guide and coordinate multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
  • Establish governance, risk controls, reporting and executive decision practices.

Required qualifications

  • Senior leadership experience in a technically complex or regulated organization.
  • A record of converting long-range strategy into funded, measurable execution.
  • Strong communication skills across boards, investors, engineers, customers and institutions.

Preferred experience

  • Experience building a new function, business unit or company from an early stage.
  • Knowledge of AI, quantum, cybersecurity, data infrastructure or aerospace programs.

Operational tools used in the role

Chief positions are evaluated on practical command of the operating systems, evidence and decision tools used to run the function—not on performing the staff engineer's daily calculations.

  • ERP, general ledger, treasury and cash forecasting, FP&A models and capital-allocation dashboards.
  • Budget/actual variance, earned value, unit economics, scenario analysis, internal controls and audit evidence.
  • Investor reporting, procurement commitments, insurance and program-level cost/risk registers.

The hiring sequence will follow operating milestones and project requirements. The position may begin through advisory, consulting or project-based work before moving into a full-time role.
