CITAO: Chief IT Architecture Officer

Define the enterprise architecture connecting infrastructure, applications, data, cybersecurity and governed AI systems.

Role mandate

Build the capability for the era ahead.

This team member will combine subject-matter depth, sound judgment and disciplined execution to move the mission from architecture to measurable results.

Responsibilities

  • Own the IT Architecture workstream for Chief IT Architecture Officer and deliver measurable technical or operating outcomes.
  • Set the strategy, operating priorities and measurable outcomes for the function.
  • Define resilient compute, storage, networking, power, cooling and security architectures.
  • Translate enterprise requirements into phased modernization roadmaps and technical standards.

Required qualifications

  • Senior leadership experience in a technically complex or regulated organization.
  • Experience designing or operating enterprise, data-center, cloud, edge or network infrastructure.
  • Strong systems-architecture skills across hardware, software, security and operations.

Preferred experience

  • Experience with critical infrastructure, high-availability operations or quantum-ready modernization.
  • Relevant architecture, networking, cloud or security certifications.
  • Experience building a new function, business unit or company from an early stage.

Operational tools used in the role

Chief positions are evaluated on practical command of the operating systems, evidence and decision tools used to run the function—not on performing the staff engineer's daily calculations.

  • Enterprise architecture and requirements repositories, portfolio roadmaps, decision records and technical-risk dashboards.
  • Engineering review, configuration-control, supplier readiness, quality and milestone reporting.
  • Executive operating metrics for security, reliability, delivery, cost, workforce and customer outcomes.

The hiring sequence will follow operating milestones and project requirements. The position may begin through advisory, consulting or project-based work before moving into a full-time role.
