CLO: Chief Legal Officer

Role mandate

Build the capability for the era ahead.

This team member will combine subject-matter depth, sound judgment and disciplined execution to move the mission from architecture to measurable results.

Responsibilities

• Own the Legal workstream for Chief Legal Officer and deliver measurable technical or operating outcomes.
• Set the strategy, operating priorities and measurable outcomes for the function.
• Identify regulatory, security and operational exposure across technology and mission lifecycles.
• Design controls, evidence and governance that can withstand customer and institutional review.

Required qualifications

• Senior leadership experience in a technically complex or regulated organization.
• Relevant experience in cybersecurity, compliance, law, spectrum policy, risk or mission assurance.
• Ability to interpret requirements and convert them into practical technical and operating controls.

Preferred experience

• Experience with post-quantum security, space regulation, critical infrastructure or government programs.
• Relevant professional certification, license or advanced degree.
• Experience building a new function, business unit or company from an early stage.

Operational tools used in the role

Chief positions are evaluated on practical command of the operating systems, evidence and decision tools used to run the function—not on performing the staff engineer's daily calculations.

• Contract lifecycle management, entity and board records, IP docket, export-control and regulatory obligation registers.
• Spectrum and space-licensing calendars, compliance evidence, policy exceptions, litigation/claims and outside-counsel management.
• Data room, electronic signature, records retention, legal-hold and third-party diligence platforms.

The hiring sequence will follow operating milestones and project requirements. The position may begin through advisory, consulting or project-based work before moving into a full-time role.
