CSO: Chief Satellite Officer

Role mandate

Build the capability for the era ahead.

This team member will combine subject-matter depth, sound judgment and disciplined execution to move the mission from architecture to measurable results.

Responsibilities

• Own the Satellite Systems workstream for Chief Satellite Officer and deliver measurable technical or operating outcomes.
• Set the strategy, operating priorities and measurable outcomes for the function.
• Own requirements, interfaces, performance budgets and verification for flight and ground systems.
• Coordinate hardware, software, payload, bus, network and mission-operation dependencies.

Required qualifications

• Senior leadership experience in a technically complex or regulated organization.
• Engineering experience with spacecraft, payloads, RF systems, avionics, antennas or ground systems.
• Working knowledge of requirements management, interface control and verification.

Preferred experience

• Experience taking flight hardware or mission systems through qualification and operations.
• Familiarity with constellation, optical-link or quantum-communications programs.
• Experience building a new function, business unit or company from an early stage.

Operational tools used in the role

Chief positions are evaluated on practical command of the operating systems, evidence and decision tools used to run the function—not on performing the staff engineer's daily calculations.

• Constellation and mission-operations dashboards, ground-station scheduling, contact plans and anomaly queues.
• STK/GMAT mission views, requirements and interface repositories, readiness gates and spacecraft/payload performance scorecards.
• Spectrum/licensing register, supplier risk, launch schedule, constellation availability and customer-service reporting.

The hiring sequence will follow operating milestones and project requirements. The position may begin through advisory, consulting or project-based work before moving into a full-time role.
